Sounds like good news on the facility issues, multi-facilities should solve some issues if it works out right.

... Any issues in particular? We are still designing how it all works together so if you have certain thoughts, let me know.

1)Map clutter: which this could go along way to helping.

2)Better placement of faciltites:So if a hex has killer water production stats AND killer oil production stats, i might not have to make a choice between the two .IF i can effectively have a single facility that handles both.

3)Map carry over: which although youve said is covered under the "one map world design", it cant hurt to cover it again another way.

4)Map scale : in which one type of facility is said to take like up to 35k in space.

off the top of my head.

It doesn't yet, we're still working on the standards and as mentioned in the blog George still needs to make the mapeditor able to place components.

It is an interesting concept....

Will we be able to target individual facilities?

Current design says yes. Some components may however not be known initailly, we are considering a possible component that looks like "generic industry/military" building until a player has... investigated... further ;)

Gotta watch how much I give away as one design idea often links into other areas :D

oooooo- do i sense a sort of hidden indentity or fog of war like effect pertaining to facilities ?
Where we might actually have to recon an area to know for sure what facilities are what facilities ?

Hmmmmmm... Could be realistic to accidentally blow up the wrong part of the complex sometimes too. It happens. 8O

Why am I thinking of an asprin factory in the same hex as a chemical warfare factory?

Ohhhh, that reminds me, I have some big questions about the fundamentals of the game's economic model, but since this thread seems focused on the aspects of mapping and industry I'll just put them in the Economics thread I started in the general forum a while back.
