I'm using this thread since this is where most of the discussions about blocks/regions has taken place.

I've updated the Supreme Wiki with our current regions list. This is a list of the 29 blocs we currently expect to use and the regions in each of them. Enjoy.

Discussion started in another thread but should be discussed here...

The big difference will be each African nation can have different relations to each of the external blocks so one nation will have an easy time buy French designs/units while others will be best to pursue American or Russian designs.
Hmm, methinks that was a slip that gives us some info

External blocks eh ?

That means I have over 200 borders to draw in. I’m certainly getting a refresher on my geography.

As an aside, since I know it’s of much interest, the maximum number of regions a player can interact with in a single player map is not finalized yet, most blocks have between five and twenty regions.
I think I spoke about this after the blog was posted, as an example France and BeNeLux are one block, Japan, N. Korea and South Korea are another. Africa is actually 4 blocks totaling 51 regions (playing from some place like should Togo should be a real challenge...) so when you play from Lybia you could buy the Rooikat design from the South African block (which contains South Africa). How much you can deal with the other blocks is still in the design stage, but production commodities/units/unit design trading seems to be a logical minimum. We'll have more informaiton on this later in the development.
tkobo wrote:Okay, i think the word "external" thru me.i took it to mean multiple blocks NOT on the map, that could be traded with.Like there was a bunch of small WMs, instead of just the one.

Actually, you understood it fairly well, that is what we are implying. How it works when we finish the design... we'll have to wait and see. At least in Sandbox mode you'll need Pakistan to deal with the China block while India deals with the Russian block. The key advantage (and the added complexity) is that you have different relationship values with each of the blocks.

I'm going to post the current version Blocks and Regions list on the Wiki, that should give everyone something to chew on...

(I'm also going to split this topic since we're drifting...)

I'm guessing that West Texas absorbed most of Central Texas? I'd give that a thumbs up. San Antonio and Austin working together would be a better match for Houston or Dallas. Can't wait to see it. :D

Im been thinking on this. The possible prospects for this make me almost as excited as major AI improvements would.

Just speculation:
1)The WM couldnt fight back, or intervene in wars in any effective way in sr2010.
BUT if the world market is now many smaller entities, its no longer the massive unbalancer it would have been in sr2010 IF it had been able to.

2)The term and description of blocks, makes me think that "regions" like palistine might now be a much more doable thing in sr2020.
So that we could/might actually see factions able to interect on the map in military ways that have no real region themselves.
This not only would mean palistine could become the hotspot it is in real life in the game.BUT also that it might be possible now for guerilla units to exist even if the region they support no longer does.

Again just speculation on new "features" this block system might make possible.

1) certainly being considered, though we expect that missions will probably have other blocks locked out but campaign/scenario may still have them involved and sandbox almost certainly will.

2) This is a new idea but still too early to know what the new system will let us do...
