Speration of Economics and Government

Post by ZT Strike »

How about this one, I bet it can be put in till 2030, but its something for the boards. I don't like how the cash flow between the Economics (production) and the Government functions. In other words, why do I have money going from my economy to my military, and government money going to my productions facilities? I guess it kool if we all want to play mister socialist. Doing this would actually make the ministers ten times more effective. I can't think how many times I have seen my country go under because my economic balance would fall off and then it would pull out my government income, or vise versa. I think there should be a setting were we can could to play Capitalist, where government and economics are separate, and Socialist, where they are together like now. Just an Idea

Yea I always thought it kinda silly where you are the one ploping down resource facilities. I always thought the more logical stance would be structures get built based off need, civilian economic situation, taxes, tarrifs, and subsidizing. Meaning you could not build that coal mine. However if there was demand for coal, and the private sector could make money off of it they would build coal mines. Or if there was an international demand for coal, and tarrifs where not so high as to not make a profit, then they would build more coal mines. Or you might just say our country needs more coal, and the goverment will subidize 50 percent of the industry cost, this way they can still make a profit on it and thus want to build more mines. But you would have no direct control of acualy building the mines. Only the ability to sugest they build them via adjusting taxes, tarrifs and such.

Although you would still have the ability to nationalize an industry, giving you the ability to manualy build the facilities. Although this could have huge relation impacts, to even ousting you as president if you are a democracy. Although dictatorship type governments would not be as severly effected by such an action.

I thought that having the computer run the economy wasn't a bad idea. However, I also thought that you could control your economic functions as a separate entity than your government ones. Example, On the economic side, I have a shortage of coal. I spend money to import that while also spending money to build new facilities. Meanwhile, though this would change my tax income and what not, but it would not directly effect my government cash flow. Its just as the real world works, at least more like it anyway. I think that if they are separated, you can let the AI run it or you run it just as in the game. However, if you play Capitalist, you control your economy separately from your government. While playing Socialist, your economics and government are together as one, like they are now. So basically, you can have two cash flows instead of one, one for economics, like factories, mines, and power plants. While you have government, like military bases, roads, and troops.

Be sure to check out my post about adding Services to the economics folder as well.
