Where to Buy?

Post by [MAGOG]Kruelgor »

I have pre-ordered my game at http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/Product ... t_id=69300, but I was wondering what other stores will this game be available at. Also, will it be available through digital download?

I'm a little worried that the game is not available at popular stores like BestBuy.

We'll start to post information on where to buy the game when we find out. We may start to find out from our own searching and from our publisher. For now, we are finishing things up. Soon, we'll be devoting time to focus on web site additions and other such marketing activities.

FYI digital download will be available from both our own site and Paradox.

Niave question (but my heart is in the right place) - if we download it from your site versus another, does BG Studios get more $$ per unit?

Ya, but we really prefer for users to buy the game by bugging their local store to get it. That method gets us the least money but the most exposure. Making use of the channel to get our game out is an important part of the process, even if selling on our direct sale site is a lower overhead cost for us.

yea in business studies we were taught that it is better to sell at a lower profit per unit but to sell lots of them rather then to make a lagre profit on each one but to only sell a few. Money makes money (says america)

In addition to going to retail stores... our studio may have a soft spot for retail stores as the 15 years selling retail started out of Supreme Ruler...

1) create supreme ruler - 1983 (25 years woot)
2) find publisher
3) no publishers for TRS-80 software ---> self publish
4) find distributor
5) not many distributors for TRS-80 software
6) self distribute
7) others see this and want their software sold.
8) open retail store/PC clone manufacturing shop
9) get bigger
10) at third location hire Chris and later Dax(me) as sales managers
11) sell 3rd location of store with over 40 employess to make a current day version of Supreme Ruler 2010...
12) hire Chris and later Dax (me again) to work with BattleGoat Studios

... i may have missed some parts in there... but David and George and Chris and I have spent our time in the retail chain and that is why we know it's value and why we say we'd like people to visit their local store.

Have you heard anything from Paradox about a Australian release?

Since I originally picked up 2010 in a Fry's, (stone cold, with no knowledge about the game) I would have to say that having copies in every possible retail outlet is indeed a smart strategy. Quite a few of the strategy gamers I have known aren't inclined to hang out reading game site reviews. They would rather wade through the shelves than endless descriptions of FPS and other ADD games.

Fry's is a nice store... they bought more copies of SR2010 per store than other retailer, except maybe J&R in New York.

I haven't heard yet if they are making a similar commitment to SR2020, but last time I was able to visit one, their PC software selection was still the widest ranging of anyone.

Regarding the earlier question about Australia, I have not yet heard about the timeline for Australian distribution, I wll try to find out.

I got though problem to resolve. As Paradox does not directly publish games where i live. Ill have to download it for a price, i guess in gamers gate. But for what currency ?

So - pay 86 zlotys* to buy it in US dolar
Or - pay 135 zlotys and buy it in Euro

Tough decision : | .... Especialy i havent watched at Mathemathicks lessons in school : /

* Zloty means litteraly "Gold" and its Poland currency. For your information ppl ; )

I have two questions, sorry if they're stupid.

1. When's the digital download gonna be avaible off GamersGate

2. Is there any emulator or such so one could try out Supreme Ruler 1983? I'm a huge fan of old games(Still play DOS, Atari, Amiga, C64 etc) so I'd really like to see how it all started!

1. Same date as the boxed copies, June 17th is what Paradox said...

2. Not that we know of. There was a site that had it but it seems to have been taken down under some legal pressures from somewhere.

Maybe we'll take out the camera so we can post some "screenshots" :)

By the way, I found out 2 myself, following the link from this page

I found a downloadable version(Three infact) of Supreme Ruler Plus, as well as an emulator I'm yet to figure out!
