Yeah, I sorta remember this being mentioned once. Is this actually a feature people would use? Text notes on a hex, ie 'Kilroy was here', that would show on the map?

Since there was talk about an option to show city and/or region names on the map as an overlay, that would let custom notes be a possibility too, but I'm not sure if this would get a lot of use.

I know i would use it to mark cities that i have targeted for missile or bomb runs.

when you go after like 20 targets at a time, with missiles or aircraft, it can get very hard to keep track of which air units have which targets in thier sights.
As it is now, i have to use a notebook.

I know I have wanted to mark sites of major battles before. Speaking of which... How many enemy vehicles do I have to leave burning on some "highway of death" before it is visible via sattelite? :P

...I resemble that remark.

It was me - a long time ago, and I would still like to tag a hex with a note, for any number of reasons, including to mark previous boundaries, to keep track of supply reach, loyalty reach and such, as well as the reasons identified above. It would also be useful to help identify the impact of supply- enhancements, to verify that you are making progress.

With certain scarce resources you not only want to highlight a hex with a tag, but you might want to specify [on the map] the order in which you want to develop them - no reason to have to examine the hexes over and over and over and over....

I think such a feature would be useful. However, I myself would categorize it as a second tier nice-to-have capability.

I would agree with Feltan on this, while this would be a useful option to have, it is much more a second level thing, we dont need this in preference to AI and the like.

Aye, no need to "stop the presses!" over this.

More than anything this has issues in the UI. However, if we continue to allow renaming hexes, then I suppose we could throw the note stuff into that same UI section; name & note.

Dax (Legend) is lead on the UI stuff, so we'll see if it tickles him any or not.

What would go down really well is an in-game log.
Basically a simple text log-entry notpad that playuers can make notes in.
Great for AAR's and analysing strategies.

i fully support that suggestion, notations on map are usefull, certainly when planning and realizing military ops.

along that, i would like to have the possibility to assign hotkeys to map zone, it will be a bit redundant with minimap but it will allow players to get to precise locs easily and faster, what hotkeyrs are for in fact ;)

cheers,

Jan
