In the time frame of 2020....you might want to lump this in with "Advanced Stealth" capabilities. I don't think we are going to see a working cloaking device for something like an aircraft in our lifetimes. However, some radar dispersal material that bends a radar pulse instead of absorbing or relflecting at an odd angle is within reason.

Another weapon I didn't see a reference to,which I probably overlooked,is the US Navy planned weapons upgrade to railguns.

By 2020 these weapons should have been deployed in the Fleet.

Actually Railguns are in, IIRC some of the tanks added in the last update use the railgun tech, and there is a thread that has been started for how they might be used in SR2020;

This tech could/should lead to new units which are bascially automated gun emplacements.

The above system, is already being used by S.Korea on the DMZ.
Ive read Israel is doing the same on thier gaza border also, but dont know whos tech they are using.

What effect would you give the last tech? An emplacement?

Israel is using one of its own big name defense companies.

This is ALL guess work on my part as ive read not even a single account of their preformance yet.
So id err on the side of caution and give it a garrison equivilant of stats (except manpower) and make it represent a series of these guns in a single location , shown as an emplacement on the map.

Easily destroyed and easily avoided, but a kind of speed bump ,like most low end foot infrantry in the game :P

With a much higher monetary cost of course.

remote turrets, static or mounted on vehicles, are developped in several countries.

Note that some turret are sometimes used in "auto mode" (without any human control, even remotely) and are then considered as an antipersonnel trap, at the same level as a claymore, a booby trap, and such devices are banned by the Ottawa Treaty in 122 countries since 1997 and in 155 countries since 2007.

So they actually got together and signed a treaty banning the sparing of Human life? "By God! If someone is going to attack your static position, then you should have to suffer casualties too!" :P

LOL What about if the robot gun emplacements were programmed to shoot only at robot vehicles such as UAVs and recon probe land vehicles?

What is next? Are they going to ban battlefield medicine to spare soldiers the life long pain and suffering they might experience after surviving a war wound?

Politicians make me laugh and cry at the same time. :-?

Dry your eyes and please read completely what is posted. My writing is probably not very clear but it's the anti personnal mines that are banned, by extension several countries also banned the production and usage of any anti personnal traps since such device don't make any differences between civies and soldiers.

I often don't agree with political initiative but that one actually save civies lives and i'm fully ok with that.

cheers,

Ahhh. I did misread your statement. Then again, there isn't much reason to have a robot gun emplacement if you have to man the thing with troops all the time...is there? Personally, I believe in Darwinism. If you are too stupid to stay away from areas with posted warning such as "Robot machine gun turret. STAY AWAY!! DEATH!! NO TRESPASSING!!" or the even more obvious signs for the literacy impaired, such as burned out Armored personnel carriers and jeeps with roasted skeletons and the smell of overcooked pork hanging in the air, perhaps you are too stupid to carry on the human bloodline. Then again if you get shot by a booby trap robot gun emplacement, perhaps you are a civilian who is up to something he/she should not have been in the first place. ;) In either case, if you dance blindfolded on the freeway, you are bound to get hit by a car.

As for unmarked and abandoned minefields.... I agree, such negligence is incompetent, irresponsible, and downright evil. I just don't agree that robot gun emplacements and unmarked minefields are in the same category. One is designed to be undetectable and attack through stealth. The other is a much more blatant deterrent to human passage through an area, the bullet or cannon shell pockmarks from misses serve as warning of nothing else. Actually, I think War would be much better resolved with individual robot death matches much like they have on TV, only jumbo-life sized. :P
