Wonder what that will be.... :-?

I hope something like the Civ concept... ?
Translated to the SR engine:
Start a new map, pik a town and make that your capital and then build
and expand...... ?
If you're doing okay... other "towns" may consider to join you so in that way expanding your "region" (or "zone of influence"....)

I expect that sandbox will allow pre-game editing of CVARs and such. To have a Civ-like system is just so far beyond what the engine currently does.

Expanded scenario options screen with on-the-fly region groupings?

Might the sandbox be a combined game and editor, allowing the player to perhaps pause the game and change things (adding/removing terrain, objects, units, cash) then resuming the game...

...or, you play in a great big desert!

(edited to make my comments a guess rather than a request!)

Whole world scenario with no preset objectives. Player chooses where to pursue diplomaic, military and economic goals?

Or is that just wishful thinking? :D

Well, ... dustoff is a bit closer. It's definitely not anything like changing things during the game. It's also not a combined map editor game. Although we'll probably have nice lobby where you can configure the game.

Thanks Legend. Is it that sandbox choice of game objectives can be set for any scenario/ campaign?

ah... I was excited in the press release because I thought it was four boards nailed in a square shape and filled with... wait for it... a silicon based substance :D Sorry guys, but I think we should continue teasing the forum for a little while and only release more details on the features only as they are signed off on for the final design.

my bets that its a configurable scenario like SM's Civ, you can set the parameters for the scenario like, world size, tech level, etc

if its anything like the sandbox here at my house and attracts kitties from miles around to give me "presents" i dunt want none!

now seriously in the sandbox mode would it be possible to have an option to start with a big chunk of cash and just the basic industries and NO millitary ANYWHERE on the globe and everyone starts from scratch?

one of the biggest problems i have with the large world scenerios are some countries like china russia have 3,000 nearly obsolete units and 200 up to date units .. so then you basicly have to send 3,000 units to reserve and sell them all and rebuild from scratch. now thats all fine for a scenario as it should be for balance making you choose between zerging with tons of old units or dismantle and upgrade.

But in a sandbox mode we shouldnt have to worry about it?

oh btw almost a year later im STILL addicted to this game mistakes and all, SR2010 has awaken the computer meglomaniac that was created with the univeralis europa series!.
