So yesterday I decide i'm gonna play kosovo. Long story short.. even with my mass of alliances and mutal defense treaties I could do nothing to stop the serbian march on my capital. Now i imagine if your lucky enough for one of your bordering allies to declare before you fall or are gifted units via the AI you might survive.. but that pretty much makes it a luck of the draw whether or not you'll survive.

Kosovo starts with 0 units 0 fabs etc.. and serbia is almost certain to declare war rather quickly. Pretty much leaving your survival based on how lucky you are with the AI's decision making. I'm not saying its bad.. just surprising to find a country where your initial survival really isn't in your hands.

So.. are there any other countries I haven't played yet that are under similar circumstances at start.. or is this unique to kosovo? (also off topic @ BG.. was it intended to be a crap shoot when playing kosovo.. and are there any countries in CW that will be similarly based on luck for their initial survival?)

That's "as designed". Kosovo isn't going to have any fabrication capacity for a long time IRL and Serbia is likely to take big issue with any other nation arming them.

Oh ya.. i don't question the data.. just the starting CB (CB being the most subjective of data points when dealing with an SR2020 scenario based on the real world) against such a defenseless nation lol (to be fair i could have started on no volatility instead of the default medium) Either way i'll likely keep on trying until i get lucky enough to survive the initial serbian DOW.

But really this leads me to another question.. how in the world do you guys decide on the CB for nations in any given scenario, certainly real world data plays its part.. but since CB is pretty much a measure of how much the world thinks a war is justified, things like serbia having a high CB vs kosovo at the start make me wonder how you guys came to that conclusion.(granted its a fictional future scenario so there is no wrong answer..)

I find doing a "no units" start as North Korea to be quite challenging. The South has much better unit designs than you do, so starting both of you at zero means they will bury you under K1s and Thunders before you can either research or accumulate enough units to make a "quantity vs quality" strategy effective.

That gets me thinking that random generated nations at scenario start as a DLC would be awesome!

Randomized relations as an option.. with our without treaties would certainly be a nice addition and add to replay value.

http://www.bgforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=18045 started a thread in CW development to discuss such an option.

Free or Fee? I would prefer the game be complete of course, but I may be in the minority. Seems modders give enought out for free to sate most.
