Re: Update 7 Announcement
Maybe a case of "can't see the wood for the trees"? Do you have somebody else to take a look at the code?

Re: Update 7 Announcement
This error has nothing to do with code, it works fine in other languages. There is a problem in a data file, probably an extra quotation added by excel during export somewhere.

Re: Update 7 Announcement
actually, that makes it easier to fix. When I find the damaged file and fix it I can just post that file.

Re: Update 7 Announcement
Are the news-items 101 (monthly GDP/c) or 168 (immigration/emigration-report) linked to scenarios? Just asking, because i have never seen them at all (playing only campaign-games).

Re: Update 7 Announcement
There are many entries in the newsitems.csv that have never been implemented. We tossed in many ideas when we where building the file hoping to get as many implemented as possible.

Re: Update 7 Announcement
Okay, a hotfix has been posted, just go back to the top of this thread. Third post down had the link for the update and all three current hotfixes.Snowpig wrote:I have a retail SR2020 (german) and a downloaded SR2020GC (german) from Gamersgate installed upon. After applying update 7 in a new campaign all the country names and descriptions in the campaign settings are gone (empty fields).

Re: Update 7 Announcement
I love the update! War is global, the AI does a much better job fighting.
I watched both Taiwan and Thailand launch amphib invasions of Southern China. They were mostly failures due to the ungodly range on Chinese 302mm WS-2 launchers. I helped them along with my own invasion.
Response to that invasion was pretty skimpy though, but then they were fighting on 4 fronts.
I made the mistake of setting diplo relations to normal instead of very easy, so there's lots of alliances. I have been trying to antagonize and build belli by supplying Angola with dozens of medium infantry units. I've built full belli against me, but getting them to dec is always the hard part.
Supply is awesome, especially with the new fortress. The load command is a dream, and makes life a ton easier.
Nitpick:
When the AI is supplied units, and those units arrive at a point far from a conflict, I only see the extremely mobile units used. That means tanks, mechanized infantry, engineers, and c-130 type light supply aircraft. Ground attack aircraft, arty, leg infantry, helicopters, etc. are not deployed against incursions. This is in reference to Angola. In their combat with the Dem Repub of Congo they only send the referenced units against each others capitals. Attacks are not massed, but are dispersed where they can be easily turned back by garrisons. It works nice to capture territory, but the AI would function far better if it used their arty and GA.
Thanks BG, for the great update!
