Supreme Ruler 2020: Global Crisis will be Officially available for sale by Digital Download on December 22nd, 2008, through GamersGate:

Global Crisis Feature List:

* New Global Crisis Campaign/Sandbox Map with updated regions and relationships.
* 20 New Single-Player Scenarios based on a new Global Crisis Storyline.
* New Units, New Facilities, New Technologies
* BattleGroups have been added, greatly expanding on the CTRL-# unit group and control.
* Flags are now shown on the Unit HUDs (below each unit on map)
* Cities displayed on map are now visually different for diffierent sizes of population.
* Capitals are shown with a visually unique look.
* Units can be Traded with other regions.
* AI Rulers will better co-ordinate their attacks and other plans.
* AI Rulers make more use of diplomacy.
* AI Rulers will plan and execute Naval Invasions.
* Capitals and Region Relationships are identified on the map when zoomed out.
* Multiplayer Game choices now feature many Scenarios as well as the Campaign Maps.
* More Lobby Options increase the available game customization for players.
* New Tutorials
* General improvements to AI, User Interface, and other game elements.


SR2020 Game Fixes and Imrovements since SR2020 Update 4:

* Selecting a Unit Group twice centers on the Group
* Naval Unit firing improvements/fixes when moving
* Improvements in AI diplomacy
* Ministers will control Research Spending
* Unit Deployed/Reserves lists respond better and allow CTRL-Click Multiselect
* Close-List button added to listboxes
* ROE (Rules of Engagement) Panels improved and split between selection/construction
* Path line now shown over world seam (from Japan to California).
* Population of grouped regions, such as England now fixed.
* Land branch highlights military containers as well as barracks.
* Loyalty penalty now being applied for reduced production.
* Petrol production now no longer greater than capacity.
* "Attack" order functions improved.
* Improved AI use of Artillery, Anti-Air, etc
* Nuclear missiles and Nuclear ships now properly require Uranium to build
* Regional Overview text no longer empty after loading save game
* Tutorial fixes and improvements.
* Data corrected and updated on many countries and regions.
* Reduced freezeups/delays on long paths, especially when destinations not valid

Though I was really hoping to be getting a much larger diplomacy list and allot more resources to gather .

Both of these weren't in our plans to add to the game.

Is there a way to get Global Crisis on DVD? I always have problems with the limited number of activations GamersGate and Direct2Drive put on things.

I have a couple of games that I have to e-mail them every time I want to install now because they ran out of activations so I try to avoid buying from them and use a DVD purchase or Impulse (which doesn't have limited activations).

It is currently available only through digital download however GamersGate does allow you to download the installer that you can then burn to DVD. The game does not require activation, you only need your activation key (CD-key) that is included in one of the e-mails after you buy the game.

Buy it, download it, burn it, and you never need internet access for it again.

Hmm, is it different from game to game then? I bought a Sword of the Stars expansion through them and it allows me to burn it to a CD all right, and there's an activation key that I saved away, but each time I activate it, it needs Internet access and it subtracts one activation. There's a little message that says, "You have 6 activations remaining" or something like that. Once activated, it no longer needs Internet access until the next time I decide/need to reinstall it. If it's different in this case then I will go ahead and get it.

What about direct2drive or ztorm? anywhere where we can buy it in dollars instead of euros?

@Trifler; It can be different from game to game, Paradox are the publisher but some developers put extra security measures on their software. We do not require internet activation of keys, only that you use a valid key.

@madjack, AFAIK Paradox have only signed a distribution deal with GamersGate. You could post on the Paradox forum if you'd like to ask them to widen their distribution rights.
