@vorius have you played the "German Advance" scenario ?Hmm, not sure thats the name...The scenario where you play as poland and germany throws the greater majority of its units at you at day one ?

If not give it a go.

Personally, ive always wanted a Spain/france advances version,in which the player plays Andorra.

Vorius I am more than willing to try a multiplayer match with you, no cheating as I am sure others are. My current situation allows me much free time on Tuesday and Thursday.

In fact, it could be a co-op game to get started, we play different, but allied, countries. One focusing on resources, one on military and share everything. Or any number of scenarios you can come up with.

As far as making what you did challenging, I do not think anything would have been different. At some point every game you play will become more of a bore than fun. It is simply the nature of playing against an AI that is designed to turtle.

One of the things I do almost every game.

I impose a force limit on myself of the following.

200 ground combat units (only because I have units in different theaters. I will rarely have more than 100 units active at any given time)
28 air squadrons

As an example, in my current U.S.A. game. I took Iran with 2 stacks, (14 units) of XAV and 1 stack (7) of FB's and 1 stack (7) of Interceptors. It was actually much easier than it reads. Remember the AI will work the same every time. There is an initial rush, in which you entrench your ground units and defend with your Air Force, then once that is beaten back or destroyed its back to ones twosome from the AI.

As far as settings I play every real game on Very Hard Military. I also never play capture capital, that's too easy. I have had the AI move it capital up to 5 times although generally after three they seem to capitulate.

I used to take the time to create elaborate plans, painstakingly recreate fleets, wings etc. I remember when I used to make every stack like so

2 tank
1 anti tank
5 Inf

Then I would follow each stack with another stack like this

2 Inf
5 Supply Truck

You get the picture. Then after I while I realized it is fun to do from time to time for "role playing" but its not needed. Mostly these days, unless it is for an AAR I will simply make my stacks all one type of unit and dominate the battles with air force.

In some situations, mostly only when you are on defense, "the initial AI rush", it can get your pulse up.

Thank GIJoe, I appreciate that nice offer!

Yeah I think it would be pretty fun if we could get together. But I may be a nuisance because my times available are inconsistent. What time zone are you in? I am in EST (New York) and would generally be able to play late evening around 9 or 10pm but definitely not every night - maybe once or twice a night. Does that sound compatible with your availability?

I had deleted Gameranger from my system. But I re-installed and tries a few connects. I read some posts in another thread about people having issues with the new update.

The several times I have logged into gameranger no one has a SR game running. Which means I still have no idea if I can even get into or host a game. I will keep trying at random intervals hoping someone else is on so I can test it. The only way I was able to get it to work when I did was to change my cable routing from my router. It is a huge inconvienece for me but I keep trying.

Despite what I have seen typed elsewhere on these forums Win 7 is not anti multiplayer friendly. I play dozens of games via the net and SR is the only one I have to jump through hoops with.

For reference I have a I7 with 12 gigs of ram on Win 7 Ultimate so I should be able to host.

Are any of the other MP games peer to peer like SR or are they server based?

I still play games like Age of Empires, computer to computer. No server involved. As I am not a tech type I call it IP to IP I think thats the same thing you are asking. I do not use any third party sites or software though.

Also, playdoe, save sent back, along with a text file.

Having trouble getting into a war again. Texas is kicking my ally Mexico's butt and its frustrating that I have only 30% CB against Texas and I have sent lots of military units to Mexico but they waste them on such stupid raids one by one against this airfield loaded with bombers. I really want to get into war with Texas but I dont want to go against the whole world...

I tried the trick where I send spies to Texas by the coast where they have ships so they get caught but despite so many spies getting caught they dont ever declare war. They have 100% CB on me and are outraged at me.

I think GC in general is alot more timid than the core 2020 game. I remember by 2020 game so many countries were at war with eachother but this game is a giant Woodstock festival of love and peace - ugh! :D

I guess Ill just declare war and see what happens... maybe the whole world against me right now will be fun anyway

One thing I am having trouble with - naval units. I have their initiative at low and they wont stay put. They are constantly moving themselves around and I dont want it. If I set them to no initiative they stop but then wont that mean they wont engage the enemy? i want they to engage the enemy automatically but NOT move around by themselves randomly

Sometimes I can get others to declare war on me by reserving all my forces. Perhaps they see it as a weakness.

Also are you setting your volitility settings to highest?

GC has a volitilty setting, you can make it so there are less wars or alot of wars.

Is that set to low in the individual units ROE or set to low in Def Dept. (minister) setting ? Having the defense minister at low will still make him/her move those ships around. If minister is set at none, then he wont move anything at all unless to respond to air attacks, air and sea transport orders, maybe a few other things.
