Hazard hexs

Post by tkobo »

I find that i can set up "kill zones" along the line of the AIs approach route and the AI never seems to realize that the route is a death trap.

Creating some type of "hazard hex" system that the AI could use to reconize such kill zones along it routes of movement ,and than mark these hexs as "NO go " hexs that the AI would go around would make slaughtering the AI somewhat harder than it is now.

This could go in wish list also, as this could also be used by the player to control his own units routes.

But i put it here since the AI needs more help than we do :P

Tkobo,

You beat me to the punch on this issue. I too have established kill zones and the enemy gets his butt handed to him. Great point.

You don't say what makes a hazard hex so?

The AI taking higher than average casualties on a hex.

I too have set up huge artillery lines which make certain parts of my line impenetratable.

Causulties would be a possible way as Baloogan says.

Concentration of attacks might also work.So that if an enemy unit is traveling to a location and it passes thru a hex in which it is subjected to a certain amount of attacks during its passage, especially in the case of artillary attacks, that hex would be reported to the AI as a "Hazard Hex" to be avoided by its units that are traveling thru the area.

And no, i have NO idea how to make this work. Its just an idea that could be looked/considered at.

I "think" Space Empires had a system in which you could mark certain routes of travel as "off limits",been a while though so not sure.

Yes. You have a list of system to avoid and also you could designate sectors as "minefields" (1 system = a bunch of sectors). In both cases, your ships won't go thru those sectors/system in the list. The AI has the ability to mark sectors as minefields and act in the appropiate way (it didnt sent ships to those sectors unless they have mineseeping components).

This is a good idea, but I've no clue either on how to make it work for the AI.

Thankfully, I don't need to know how ;)

Wasn't trying to be difficult, just trying to anticipate what George will ask when he reads through these.
