Making money, having a solid economy without trade is simply about making enough cash from domestic sales and taxs to pay your bills plus.

This is best, in my opinion, achieved by making sure your income from domestic sales is FAR higher than the production costs.

As domestic sales are where you can make the most non-trade profit, thats where you should focus.

As almost always i suggest maxing out your price for domestic goods in oil, power, and consumer goods. You should be able to create solid economy just by doing that.

As long as you dont go nuts in your spending :P

First:

Restart from scratch. What can your country produce best? Consumer goods? Military goods? Industrial?

Compare all product prices with the other sellers and world market (if any)

If the difference isn't much and other sellers are in plenty, don't bother producing stuff. Import it, but keep a stockpile and a few dormant factories in case war happens.

Otherwise, first, make sure you are having a surplus in all resources. Then, target a profitable industry

????

Profit!

Everybody? Did you nuke someone? Anyways, if your product costs are higher than usual, all you need is to raise a bit domestic sales, tell your ministers to increase domestic demands and prices, and monitor your expenses, tell you ministers to balance the budget etc...

I'm sure you can make a surplus.

This is pretty common for a "top ten" build cap region in WWIII, especially played by a human.

BY the way, I have the same problem when playing a rich nation.

Poor nations can be self sufficient and export to nirvana ad infinitum.

It is very difficult for a high GDP nation now. I also badly need advice on tax rates in entirety. Why has Import taxes revenues when when I import nothing? What is unemployment taxes about? How much income tax is good when I want my citizens buying consumer goods instead?

George is the only one who could give you some answers to the economy. But, as well you don't necessarily need to know those answers to play the game well.... tkobo will probably tell you some... (I don't really know the economy that well.)

I have read some threads on them though, so im pretty sure theres info on the forum about how to tweak them.
