Are government budgets in SR reflected from factual budgets?

Post by spiritofatlantis »

Are the budgets which governments have in countries or regions the same as the actual budgets governements have these days?
And what about GDPs of countries, does this in the game reflect the actual GDPs of countries?

We actually use GDP/c, but these are taken directly from the CIA World Factbook so are extremely accurate. As for the budgets, I am not really sure how to answer that. We certainly don't include the all the bureaucratic money shuffling or committees seen in today’s governments. It is a game and we can only simulate so much :)

In putting together our economic and trade model, we did compare (where possible) the 'budgets' and figures for real regions with those simulated in SR2010. In fact, given that SR2010 is set 5 years in the future after an economic collapse, we spent more effort matching up with real figure than you would think we needed to :-)

Most of our in-game numbers come out very close to real world figures. There are exceptions, caused by a number of factors, but surprisingly SR2010 makes a good 'real world' simulator of these things.
