Well, if that is indeed the case, I will be very impressed. My question would be "what is a high tax"?. At what point do taxes have a deceisively negative impact in the long run? The problem with programing such a thing is, in all reality, it depends on the political-socio-economic views of the designer(s).
Fortunately, in this area I am content. Despite the fact that they are Canadian ( only kidding) I have been more than content with the a-political attitude that the BattleGoat has taken. Makes this a more enjoyable game, in my view.
As long as there is some representation of private economies and the negative effects of taxation that impact them, I will be extremely appreciative.
Inversely, however, I do hope (and am confident there is) that government policies exist in game that can simulate psuedo socialist or, at least, other State-Capitalism models (a la much of Europe), such as social nets, that can permit economies with higher taxation to function.
Heh, just because I'm a true laissez-faire, anti-government intervention, guy doesnt mean I dont want to be able to create the United Socialist Republic of Texas

You can't have a laissez-faire policy. Commodity prices are controlled by you, and you are the sole supplier. Social safety nets are in the game, as are a lot of taxes such as unemployment and pension contribution percentages, etc. Anyway I suggest you visit the site you see in my signature, that should cover some more economics of the game.

Ah, much thanks Red- appreicate the link. I must confess, the Economic side of the game is the only part i never followed diligently.
Like I said before, given the nature of the game (the world collapsing and all) I suppose it would be impossible (or at least, impractical) to have a small-government economy. After all...the goal is world conquest.
Hmm...I still have to wonder if there is a game that does (or will) adaquitly simulate the different economic styles AND have a full Military and Diplomatic side.
Regards to all.
