Absolutely. We track both fuel and supply usage for all units. When you look at any given units statistics, it can be very useful to check the unit’s range value. This will tell you how far it gets on one tank of gas. Also, tanks have a very short range even though they carry a lot of fuel this is because they use a lot of fuel. The supplies we track are intended to represent ammunition, food and anything else the unit would need in the field.
All our test games have shown that a static defense of tanks, leg infantry and towed artillery works well, but won’t go far in making attacks due to their limited speed or fuel supplies. Mechanized infantry, recon and anti tank units are usually the front line of your attacks with some self-propelled artillery and helicopters for support. Once you have a new front line you can move up your static defenses. However, nothing seems to work as well to break a line of defense than a bunch of tanks. This also means that to support an active military, the player must be able to secure good sources of petroleum and military goods, either within their region or with friendly outside regions.
You should check out our supply model thread in the military section if you want to know more.
