Research Center = Military Facility ?

There is a lot written about improving WM relations = Shutdown military bases...

So in what way counts a R-centre as a Military base ?

Not sure because its doesn't build anything and it doesn't require military personnel. I thought the R-centers were like colleges.

I think research centers are more of a DARPA or NSA or NASA (less so, but NASA does use quite a bit of USAF stuffs) sorta thing: they hire civilian contractors but the research centers themselves are military with generals as the director.

i don't know for sure if having more research centers does anything with your world market score, but i can tell you that they are also collages. Texas A & M comes to mind right off.

As a general answer to your questions... research centres like other items in the game represent the research industry in a given area... but are named as colleges or universities where there is one present.

if their industry then why they in the miltary section. That's the only thing i wonder about.

Well, i guess my question on them would be about WM rating.
Building more military bases tends to lower thier (the WM) rating towards you.

AND

Research facilities are built under the military build order.

So,do they affect your WM rating ?

Research Centres don't affect your World Market Rating so don't worry about that.

As for where they are located in the "Build" menu... In the original design, we did have military personnel required for them which is why they got located under military builds in the first place. Seeing as more then half the items they develop have military application, it didn't seem a bad thing leaving them there after we removed the personnel requirement from the design... (and since they aren't an "Industrial" upgrade either)

Maybe if we develop different levels or types of Research Centres in future, we'll separate them off into their own category.
