Currently Engeneers have similary like the Bridging, the ability to bridge Large river in a matter of a few hours. This often makes makes specialised bridging unit a secondary unit, often not worth building

Besides that Engeneers reduces the use of Specialised Bridge, their bridging ability is IMHO totaly unrealitic because in contrast to Specialised bridging units, which carry fast deployable Pontoon Bridge sections, Eneneers do not. Engereers on the other hand are be suited for reparing damaged bridges, help the construction of new bridge. The only realistic bridging ability they would have if to construct a temperal makeshift bridge but building it would require at least a few days of work.

To make the game more realistic and Balance energereers compared to Bridging unit, It think Engeneers should loose their Bridging ability. That way, Real bridging unit become far more important. Instead, I would rather give them the ability to paratroop, that way they become more effective capturing and rebuilding airstrips. Also it would be helpfull if we could build at Pontoon Bridge (which is already in the equipment file). This bridge should after beeing construced be upgradable to a normal bridge unit, allowing faster river crossings.

I agree that the bridging units are getting ignored, but Engineers do bridging. What has been suggested around the team is that the movement penalty for crossing bridging units should be half so that bridging units can be crossed faster than engineers since they are better equiped. And the current engineering unit should not be airdroppable, too much equipment is assumed in their capabilites. Besides, we added the airdroppable engineer, didn't we?

How exactly do engineers bridge rivers differently than specialised bridge unit. Don't they simply use specialised bridge unit for that? in other words, an standard engineer batalion contains several bridge squad units? If so, the bridge capacity of enineers should be based on the number of bridge units relative to the number of bridge unit squads in a full bridge batalion.

however, how do you explain the engineers speed. The maximum speed of a standard M60A1 AVLB bridging unit is 48,5km/u, that is half the speed of the current engereer traveling at 95km. Would the engineers be draged down at least a bit, or have the specialy supercharged bridge units capable of crossing country at 95 km/u?

Engineering units inculde pontoons for briding. They move at 90km/h because they load stuff into HMMWVs (or something like it).

Bridging units are usually using hard bridges carried on tracked platforms.

Just a idea had

In the equipment file there is a building called "pontoon bride". Why not allow us to build this unit, the eneneers can then be used to speed up construction. By lowering the contruction time, and increasing the movement cost, this building would be a realistic sollution to the bridging problem

IIRC, that was sort of the idea. It just has not be implemented and tested completly. Might appear in a future update.
