10:30 pm, January 12th, 2011, South of Century, Florida

Well both battalions have made it back a hour ago. Before they got here the road had a lot of activity on it. My company and me saw, while we were laying in the woods beside road, all kinds of civilian trucks running south. I wasn’t sure if they were just civilian or Floridian military. So I had my men hold their fire unless I saw that they were military. I hope they were just civilians getting out of the way. If they were military I missed a chance to get them out of the war for good and I bet we will have to fight them somewhere else later. I reported to Major Folley what my company and me saw. He said it was better to have let them go than had we fired on them and it be civilians with women and children with them. Now I am glad I let them go. I don’t know what I would have done if I found women and children with them. As of right now we are waiting for another armor battalion to show up and we are to push right into Pensacola. No matter what the Floridians brings out to meet us. 2 more F-15 squads have been moved south to help deal with the enemy air threats we might meet as well. Heard the Floridian capital is all but taken. An entire army out of the 1st Corps was ordered to take the city. Seems Ark is making good on their promise of their navy helping. As of right now their navy is just south east of Pensacola and are engaging Floridian ships along the way. When that new armor unit gets here we are to attack from the north while those ships shell Pensacola from the sea. I just hope the Arks don’t mistake some of us for Floridian military. There has been friendly fire incidents in the past. Will not be surprised if it happens some during our war.

Well we’re moving slowly toward Pensacola finally after the 19th armor made it to us around midnight. Think the majors are just being safe because we‘re moving awful slow. We haven’t seen any Floridian soldiers since we passed through McDavid. Before long if this keeps up we’ll be able to take Barth, Molino, and maybe even Cottage Hill before daybreak and before we make our push into Pensacola. There’s been flashes all over the southern horizon. I take it that Ark’s ships are shelling now or in another naval fight. The Eglin AFB still is troubling me. I know they still have aircraft there just waiting to fly out from there and do some damage to our military. Course those F-15’s that were brought south to support us is patrolling the sky a lot. I haven’t seen anymore dog fights but after the one the other day I love to see some more. I learned one of my corporals in the 3rd platoon brought a camera with him. He took pictures of the dog fight the other day. I like to see those pictures after he gets them developed. That is if he doesn’t get killed but if he does I make sure someone takes over developing them even if I have to do it. Well we’re are getting close to Barth now. Have to get ready for a fight if there is one going to happen in the town.

2:35 pm, January, 13th, 2011 North of Pensacola, Florida

We took the outlined towns around Pensacola without a fight. We poised to go into Pensacola now. The 2nd brigade took Eglin AFB also but the fighters there scrammed out of the base. Heard it got bad there until our fighters showed up. Missed a massive dog fight. Heard the “Demon” was in the fight too. Like to see how he handling the new type of fighting he decided to get in. The brigade lost over 250 men in that fight with another 300 wounded but the Floridian air force there was about wiped out. We got word that the only unit holding Pensacola is one garrison. Well we might make short work of them. Our attack will happen after dark today. Armor first again then the infantry. Seems the higher ups are learning that kind of tactic works because at Tallahassee the army that attacked the capital used the same tactic. They lost less men that way. Seems the sight of our tanks are scaring the enemy. I hope that stays true for our stake here. As for the capital its taken basically. All is left there is cleaning out any resistance. Right now the army there is moving east to link up with the rest of the Corps. The rest of the Corps is about to launch its assault into southern Florida. Hopefully the push that will take them all the way to Miami. All is left in the northern part of Florida is Pensacola which we are to take and Panama City which I bet we'll be ordered to take. In about 6 hours we’ll be attacking Pensacola. Just it sounds like this be our last action in the war if we're not ordered on to Panama City. Which I hope will happen.

9:00 am, January 14th, 2011, In Pensacola

We took Pensacola. It looked like the Ark’s ships did a number on the city. The whole city was nearly leveled and was on fire everywhere. Which was eerie in a way. The whole city was lit up by those fires. We figured the garrison there was either wiped out or retreated because there was no way they still be there after the way the city looked. As the tanks started combing their way through the ruined city with us following along behind. The tanks started taken fired from every direction. At first it was just Mg fire, which was funny to me and it looked like the tanks could handle it. No way the bullets will hurt the tanks. The bullets were ricocheting off the tanks being thrown into every direction but then I didn’t think it was funny when we started taken fire our way and Laws started to hit the tanks. Every gunner in the hummers opened up then. They were firing everywhere. I seen a whole platoon in the rubble on both sides of us. The gunner in my hummer and the ones behind me saw them too. In seconds the platoon was being shredded to pieces. The ones trying to run looked like they got hit by every gunner. The ones that stayed to fight were no better. I even had to shoot through the window at some of them because they were so close. No more than 10 yards from us laying in the rubble. Seemed a lot of the men in the hummer I was in and the other hummers in the line got the same idea. Then I started hearing on the radio that the gunners were being hit. Then it happened my gunner got shot in the face. I started to man the gun myself but one of the men with me got to it first. I got back in my seat started firing in the window again and my new gunner opened up. We keep rolling through the gauntlet around the disabled tanks and busted up hummers. All along the way we were being shot at. We were killing more of them than they was us. Right before we were out of it, the firing stopped. The tanks out front then were catching the rest of the garrison out in an opening and were just mowing the men down. As my hummer got to where the tanks were I could see man after man laying in the street. A lot were still trying to cross the street. They were meeting the same fate. Finally those men got wise and threw up a small white piece of cloth. Major Folley took over the surrender while the tank battalions combed the rest of the city and set up a defensive line looking east. A platoon out of the 3rd company are right now escorting the prisoners and both our and their wounded back to Mobile. I went over the death and wounded counts. Just in the 1st battalion we lost 30 men with another 45 wounded. Between our battalion and the 2 armored we lost 116 men with another 75 wounded. We didn’t take the time to count the Floridian dead. We know its around 600 though. The rest of the 100 men in the battalion were the POW’s and wounded. Seems though most of the garrison were token out by the Ark ships. I’m glad of that. Not sure how it would have turned out if we faced the whole garrison like we just went through. As of right now the 1st battalion is along the defensive line the tanks set up. We just waiting orders to begin going east. Mainly to take care of any resistance between us and the rest of the Corps and probab;y taking over Panama City. Seems we won’t go south with the rest of the Corps. But I learned you never know what will happen in war. I been going about talking to the new guys in my company. A lot of them kind of got upset after the fight we went through. It happens. I did myself. Maybe I can help them feel better just by telling them I went through the same thing their going through. I hope it helps them. We don’t need psychos right now. Worse thing we need is them going crazy and start shooting at us. Well anyways back to the line and I guess I can call it counseling.

Something new. Kinda short. Be awhile before I get the scenario done it looks like. At the rate I'm goin it be 4 years before this AAR is done. I'll complete it some day.

12:16 pm January 16th, 2011

We are still holding our position until the Ark ships leaves Panama City in ruins. Kind of sad in away. Been there once. A pretty good town when your not planning to either take it over or bomb it into nonexistence. Maybe the Ark ships be able to take out any resistance this time. Until we are ordered to take the town, we are just sitting here killing time. Mostly listening to the radio hearing how events are going in the world and sometimes playing cards. There isn’t much else to do. Still fighting everywhere in the world it seems. Some of the battles described puts the ones we fought to shame. Like the Israeli-Syrian war, which is still going on. Just at the start of the war there were 100’s of battalions fighting at once. The battle lasted, they said , over a week. Several 1000 men were killed on both sides just in that battle alone. Israel is now afraid they won’t be able to clear the dead before they all start to decay. It seems Israel is winning for now. Saying that because they have taken Damascus. I know one day we might be over there fighting too. Not sure if the higher up will send the Mountain Division into any desert terrain but even I don’t know how they think. I do know there is mountainous regions there. Course I always hated the summers here. Too hot. Not sure how much better it be in a place like that. I fear we will fight there someday. If they fight like that with neighbors, I can’t imagine how they would fight complete outsiders. Guess I got to get use to see a lot of men killed on both sides first. That is if I ever make it until then.

We got orders around midnight to move on to Panama City. Either there is nothing left of that city or there is nothing left the Ark ships can take out and it will take us to clear it out. It maybe our last battle in this war but I really hope not. I have to admit its really quiet in the our sector of Florida. Either all the Floridian units are wiped out or are on the run south ahead of the rest of the Corps. The only units still in Florida panhandle is the 1st battalion and the 2 armor ones that are with us. The rest of the brigade been ordered to link up with the rest of the Corps. Heard its being a walk in the park now for the Corps. The Corps has lost less than a 100 men since they made a battle line from Suwannee all the way to Holly Hill. The arty with them is doing most of the work. Last account there has been around 5000 Floridian soldiers either killed or injured in what looks and sounds like suicide runs against the line. As of right now the line is moving slowly south grinding everything out of its way. Its being predicted that at the rate the lines going within a week the Corps will control all of Florida. The only trouble will be in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami. There’s also still lots of those airstrips around with probably fighters. Then there’s the Floridian ships that haven’t been sunk yet. A least the Ark’s are working on them. So in my mind it be more than a week before this is over. I just hope after Panama City I get in the fight more. I hate patrols anyways. Boring but then again I might get shot at while on them or worse. Either way our battalion along with the other 2 are expected to arrive in Panama City by day break. Right now we on our way there. Before we get there I feel like trying to sleep some along the way. Haven’t slept good since the war started.
