All right. I've been reading the other posts about the world market and ways to appease it. They do not seem to be working.

First of all, I am playing as New England on EASY mode, and I have a democratic government.

I have full treaties with everybody in my region, excluding mutual defence and missile defence.

I have the lowest building cap for military units of ANYBODY in the region now.

I am not even building any new military units at all.

I am *over* funding my social things. Health, education, environment, law, family, culture are all OVER 100%. Infrastructure is 92%. I've allocated 20 million more than is suggested to the social assistance field.

The ONLY thing I am researching is Stem Cell Research, which says the World Market is supportive of it.

And yet, I am, without fail, losing 0.1% World Market rating EVERY DAY, sometimes 0.2%. What is going on here? I'm doing everything suggested. I'm on easy mode, it shouldn't be biased against me. My population loves me, I've got an approval rating of 40%. I've got 30% of the voters for the unification vote at this point. Yet the world market is slowly beginning to hate me?

Well it sounds like your doing all the right things, all I can suggest is that it is a bug.

can't say I've ever noticed anything like this, but 0.1% isn't a big decrease, and so it is unlikely that WM will hate by the time of the vote I would have thought.

It could also be predetermined. The devs have said that some regions in some games start out very hated, its part of the scenario's coded setting.
That such a region would have a much harder time keeping other regions and WM happy with it.

Cant say for sure if this is your case, but its possible.

I dont think ive played a region i could not get and keep a positive WM rating for,but i cant say ive played every possible region either.

Another thing it could be, if your playing a campaign, is carry over for deeds your region did in the past scenarios

Well, on a two-year time, with a -0.1% rating per day, that's 730 days, or -73% rating.

Which is kinda not good. Can make it, but it's a bit frustrating trying to appease these guys. :P

Yeah, I wondered if it could be predetermined, but didn't think the devs had done that...

What region are you playing as?

...Ah yes, the Wily M-bleep...
It's all caprice.
Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't.
And there are similar effects in the various dip- and civrelate situations.

Have many experiences taking similar adjacent regions with effectively identical starting values and handing out essentially identical subsidy-type trades at the same intervals to each. One region develops affection, the other disaffection. huh?

Likewise, have played with similarly falling WM rating, and yet had the WM show incredible generosity (techs, cash and units, often all on the same day... (and christmas is definitely a wm handout day, aint it goats?). And then, had truly high WM scores and watched the green text as the WM basically told me what I could do with my high score.

One thing I have noticed - when you force a recession (a topic I'm gettng fond of) to correct inflation, the WM quite frequently comes to the rescue - if you do it just right - regardless of WM score.

So - think of it as the community chest card stack in monopoly. Sometimes you get to pass go and collect $200. Sometimes you advance to Boardwalk. Et cetera.

Playing as New England.

And it stopped going down, even went back up a little... so may just be the random factor that Il Duce was talking about playing with me.

Ah well. Either way, I'm feeling better about the World Market now.

Thank you all. :)

Keep in mind that WM membership is not an absolute necessity. I'm on the world map of a campaign in which I was ejected from the WM maybe two months into the first map. That was SW United States. Admittedly I started in a region with ample natural resources, but still, I have not received a penny nor anything else from them the entire way. (hmmmm... maybe I'll try N. Korea next since I'm used to being a world outcast. :P)

Why should the WM help you .. ??? ..when you're the wealthiest region in a scenario..

Bigstone, if you are asking me (?:P) wealth had nothing to do with it. I declared war on two of my neighbors simultaneously, got kicked out, and never did a damned thing to win the favor of the WM back. Of course they aren't going to give me anything if I'm constantly conquering their members. :D

Well, thats one of the many problems i have with "how" the WM is depicted.

The problem is, they want you to absorb your neighbors as fast and effeciently as possible.

They even state this in that little "proclamation " they issued. They go even further and threaten to do it themselves if you dont do it fast enough.

So, why the heck would they get mad at any region for successful wars ?

As I said - all caprice.
Basically, if you're doing well, regardless of ratings, they do nothing for you. On the other hand, they do seem inclined - capriciously - to shore up potentially failing regions until they can be properly conquered.

LMAO....come to think of it, Oklahoma and Houston Declared on me. Yeah yeah yeah I "accidentily" overflew their borders with some E-3's. I posted a thread about it. I am not cheesed about it or anything, it just adds even more humor to the situation. (and yes, I'm still playing that campaign. I get 2-3 nights a week to play 3-4 hours and I micromanage.) ROFL I shoulda kidnapped some Okies and Houstonians instead, then the WM could send a garrison battalion or two over as a peacekeeping force along with mucho international aid. :P

Ok and how can you manage to have a decent budget in the late game? If you have conquered almost everybody and boycotted by the WM? How can you seel your ressources and not making a deficit?

Syagrius-

The quickest way to say it without writing a textbook:

Early game: Maximize exportable goods and sell them like there is no tomorrow. Use some of the cash to make your region as self sufficient as possible. Start $$$ saving steps as early as possible. Reduce welfare budget, turn off inefficient industrial complexes etc.

Late game: If you are winning handily, but have cash flow problems. Turn research completely off. Make as many military bases inactive as possible. Drop social spending outside of infrastructure and police to 0%. Budget cuts like there is no tomorrow. If you are in a campaign, you will have to re-adjust these things when the next stage starts, but you will hopefully have trading partners again.

There are other subtle things you can do, but these are some basics I use. As long as you have individual regions to trade with, you do not need the WM.

Hope they help.
