How to reduce casus belli?

Are there other ways to reduce the casus belli that other regions have on me, other than bribing them individually?

Reducing your build cap below theirs, or at least below the highest level, will stop causus belli from increasing against you.

This is certainly true, yes, but... it's not what my question was about. But still, thanks for replying. :)

Sorry, I was pretty much asleep at the KB when I posted that. I should have added that other than Cash Bribes or successful treaty diplomacy, there really isn't any way to reduce it. The Goats created the game to force us to fight the AI, so there aren't tons of options in 2010 to peacefully co-exist. 2020 is rumored to have more diplomatic options in the works.

Also, since treaty diplomacy usually calls for healthy bribery, I guess it can just be lumped in with plain old bribes. :P

I see...
The problem is, I'm playing on a 32-player map, and having to bribe each of those greedy bastards seems to me like one of the punishments that await mass murderers in hell.
Does casus belli ever drop by more than 1% from a single bribe?

Declaring war on your neighbour: 100 CB points.
Bribing 30 countries to stop hating you for it: 3000 diplomatic actions.
Getting carpal tunnel syndrome from it: Priceless.

It should also be noted that if you are playing at a difficulty level > normal there is an artificial pressure on CB that will inevitably make it increase. This will be done differently in SR2020.

Yes, throw enough money in one deal with a region and you can get huge jumps downward in C.B.

Ive seen circa 1/10 a bar jumps on the diplo bar and circa 5% jumps downward in C.B.

One very large thing to remember about dilpomacy in sr2010, is that unless theres a re-unification vote, you cannot win by it alone.

So theres really no need to winover all 30+ regions on the map at a given time in play(with no vote).

I find the best thing is to win over those that can have a direct effect on the current stage of my plans, and dont sweat the rest til they also can.

AND since you can go from the worst possible standings with open warfare to a full alliance in which the former enemy regions people love your region thru diplomacy, theres again no need to maintain good relations with everyone all the time.

Apply the diplo pressure when you need to, to who you need to.

The "human" player is at default given a negative bonus in relations.

The goats called it the "hate the human player/s" "feature"

I believe theyve said it wont be present in sr2020.

not really ;) We've mentioned before that it will be possible to play at "very hard" without the artificial pressure, beyond that we're still working on the new design.
