When trading with an Ally for research, it will often show designs that you already have or rather the base design (but the european name being different to the US name tag). So you can trade for something you already have.
Now in general trade for normal research, it doesn't display what you already have but the designs are a bit annoying since theres so much of them. perhaps if you add in the removal of unit designs you already have?

Units designs you already have are not shown. If you have a "light infantry" design and the other player can still offer you a "light infantry" than it is a different version. There are only about 3 out of the 2000 units with duplicate names like that. I think Engineer and some bridging unit. Because they are different, they can't be filtered out.
