Insighting a war through diplomacy

Post by djtrix »

I was wondering if it will be possible to insight a war through diplomacy? For example, lets say that I want to go to war with country X because of some resources I want to capture. Being a diplomatic society, I know it will hit my WM and domestic approval to issue a declaration of war. Will it be possible for me to goad the AI into declaring war?

Maybe... It will mostly depend on the personality of the AI for that region. Some AI's will be more passive then others, and some will call in the tanks if you look at them wrong

So, in theory, would it also be possible to intimidate some of the more shy AI regions into giving up some of their turf?

That is the intended design, yes.

Regardless of the nations leader (pesonality) will military comparison help affect the target nations reactiongs?

I am not certain that I would pay much attention to Qatar's belligerient attitude if I knew that my war machine out weighes theirs by 5:1. nor would i expect them to give over to me if the ratio was reversed.

Just as I would expect Qatar to fold or at least have a much higher chance of folding if my army was 5x greater than their regardless of the personality of their AI.

Yes, definitely the force size plays a role. As in the real world, intimidation often requires having a 'big stick' to back you up.

How does the AI know your force strengthsize ?

Do they just apply whatever limited intel they have and go on that ?

Is there a way, besides moving every one of your units you want them to be aware of into their los,to l give them an undisputeable( one they will believe as fact) glimpse ?

Like a diplomatic thing that allows thier intel to see exactly what you have that you want them to see ?

Tkobo addresses my next question as to intel.

does the computer use actual size of armies or army info based on intel?

If intel what is the chance of error?
