Will the rulers of a given region have to get aproval for certain types of actions from npcs ?

Or will they simply face the consequences of their actions after the fact ?

How about npcs trying to get your job ?

Can you be removed from power by your own people ?
In what ways ?

While "Ruler" of your region, you can pretty much do what you want. Of course there will be consequences for your actions afterwards.

You might get removed from power by an election, a civil revolt, a military coup, or by being conquered by another region.

Pretty early on we eliminated the need for a Congress or Parliament as an element of the game, so the leaders' decisions become 'final'. The rationale here is that the world crisis situation of the year 2010 will result in regions giving 'special powers' even to their elected leaders.

After all, we call the game 'Supreme Ruler', not 'Congressional Consensus-Maker'...

I think the idea of having to win a political battle in the Senate before declaring war whould be nice.something like Civ. 2 in which if you were a republic or demo. you could be stoped by the peoples representatives.
It is a really good idea,i dont know however if its possible to be implemented.

Democracies face elections and their power comes from domestic approval rating. Dictatorships have no elections and get their power from their military approval rating. In some screenshots you can see how despotic governments have the DAR display replaced with military approval.

Not always. There will be some circumstances where you will have sufficient military support that you will be offered to change your government type to a dictatorship but in general, loosing the election does mean you loose.

Elections? I know nothing about elections...

How they will be actually implemented? Will there be a counter somewhere that will tell you the number of days till elections? And how do you win elections - is the high DAR only factor you have to keep in mind and in that case how high the DAR has to be?

ALthough it would be very nice if some kind of parliament was in the game. You'd have to secure majority for any bigger policy decision - war, new loan etc. ALso intimidate/persuade opponents to vote in your favour etc. There would be certainly much more reason for turning to dictatorship if the parliament was in the game. But too late for that I'm sure.

Mostly they'll be provided in EMail (polls) and regularly in the Status Line for the countdowns.

Elections and the surrounding events would be a killer feature, please don't drop that.

Aren't the elections worth a separate screen? There is some free room in News and Info dept....
