Smart Target Munition / Satellites

Post by BigStone »

Before you can research smart target munition (and improved fire controle) you must research GPS.

Question:
When do you get the benefits of those techs... ?
Is it a instand effect OR do you need to launch comstats before
the effect can take place... :-?

What benefits are you refering too? None of those three techs list any effects in the game. They are only technology prerequisites. Steps towards achieving other techs or units.

I was more refering to the "benefits" of satellites....
Some of those techs will give you a better missile design.
But do the missiles work when you don't have satellites orbiting... ???
I haven't research the designs yet.. but i'm pretty sure that they will
work without sats... so i was thinking it would be more realistic, when you
want to use those missliles you first have to launch a couple of sats.....

It is true that you can use missiles which require GPS when you have not launched any satellites but GPS satellites are not one of the types you build. ComSats improve efficiency, Recon sats give line of site and MDI sats intercept ballistic missiles. None of them relates to using missiles.
