Escort is a good way to do this that cuts down on your order giving.
There are downsides to it though.
Supply aircraft will often run out of supplies to hand out, before they exhaust their fuel, this means they stay on "station" longer than you may want as they use fuel statis as the factor in when to go back to base and get more,NOT supplies.
So they can run out of goddies to dish out, by not go back and get more til fuel issues tell them to.Which can create a small occassional hole/pause in your manual supply system
AND if the enemy has anti-air in the area,it WILL likely take shots at those air units.
Not to mention they will likely attract enemy air units, which can charge out and chase your air supply units away (or shot them down),which will leave your units feeling "All out of Love" when it comes to resupply, and wishing they could "make love (supply) out of nothing at all"
Yea, yea, shoot me.I thoguht it was funny

Tkobo's post explained most of it, but one aspect was not mentioned. Resupply does not happen all at once. Think of it like filling a car's gas tank. You don't just stick the nozzle in, then immediately pull it out and have a full tank. The reason "escort" works better is because the planes will need to stay close to the units for a period of time. If you just do a fly by, then the ground units will get some supplies, but not very much. Escort will keep the planes close even when the ground units are moving. As Tkobo mentioned, they also stand a greater chance of getting shot down. Myself, I prefer Helos which can land and get out of the AA/counter air storm when I need more than my trucks.Tnarg wrote:So If I want to supply my forward land units with aircraft, do I click on the aircraft I want supplying my units and click escort? Or can I just click on a cargo plane and direct it to where my troops are for resupply?
Tkobo- that puts a whole new spin on "Air Supply". rofl!
