Repairs in the Field?

Hello,

For some strange reason, I can't seem to stop playing this game...

But my question: Does a unit have to return to a base to repair? or can it repair in the field? I've done some research in the area and found two possible vehicles that fit the repair in field situation, though I would venture that the repairs would be limited to relatively minor issues and not something like an engine/transmission repair for example.

Global Security lists one called a LAV-R, and a second one called a Fitter. The LAV-R i'm guessing is a newer version, as the description on the Fitter lists service in Vietnam. The LAV-R's equipment list includes a welding bench/parts/tools/ etc., which would make a field repair possible?

Is this already in the game? or would it be a reasonable request for a future update? I'm no programming expert, but a reasonable off-the-cuff logic statement would go something like If TankDamage>75% then repair at base else if TankDamage<50 repair in field?

Just an idea.

We don't track repair vehicules since they do not generally work in battalion sizes IIRC, but we do already allow units to repair in the field. They will repair as long as their are in supplied territory, the better the supply, the faster they repair. The repair rate reserved in a base is however much faster.

Not true. Bases apparently have some sort of limit on the number of units they repair at any one time. So, a ring of units sitting in well supplied territory can repair faster than such units returned to base "for repairs". I ran an experiment and at least that is what I observed.

If you have proof of this I would love to see it. We placed no limitation on the number of units that can be repaired in a base at once.

Are U sure the units aren't being kicked out of the base when they are finished repairing? I see that everytime one gets finished.
