If i order a unit to capture an enemy industry(say a power plant), will that industry have the chance of getting damaged in the battle ?

Can an enemy destroy his own structures so as to not have them get captured ?
If so , will this require an attack on said structure by their own forces,or a special unit(like engineers) ?

No decision has been made on the issue of structures taking damage during combat if not directly targeted. A structure you own can be "scrapped" at any time with a simple command so it will be possible to achieve a "scorched earth" situation. However, the inherent resource remains in the terrain and can be gathered by the next player if they simply add the required upgrade.

What about Cities?

If units that are located in a heavily populated area(this means many buildings) get attacked by artillery or air strikes doesnt the city get dammaged?I think its easy to imagine : )

Originally we allowed Cities to be built and destroyed just like any other upgrade, but it was thought that this wasn't really in keeping with our game time span. So now we don't allow building Cities from scratch.

City populations can change, and that is likely how city growth and damage will be reflected. People will either leave or be killed if a City comes under attack.

Nice to hear. And since the population also affects production,R&D and the military (right?),shooting down the enemys population would be a possible strategy.

Yes, unfortunately killing the civilian population has become an accepted element of warfare, and it will certainly have effects throughout the region and its economy.

How does this stand now ? For instance,if i have a unit garrisoned in a building/upgrade/etc.. and an enemy infrantry division attacks the garrison in the building/upgrade/etc.. ,will the building/upgrade/etc.. sustain any damage ?
