Set rally point

What I want is for new units to go to a specific place automatically. So I click on the 'set rally point' box and I get a white line and circle to place on the target hex. So I do this and yet units don't move automatically.

So, what am I doing wrong? Does this only work if new units autodeploy? Does 'set rally point' do something entirely different?

This isn't covered in the demo manual.

New units and any units you manually deploy. Deployed units would need to be ordered to the destination.

Ok, I'll try that. I think most of my new units go straight to reserve. That will be the problem. I'll check it and see.
