Mountain Divisions

Post by bergsjaeger »

I know mountain infantry won't be in the game but maybe they should

have. Units like the 10th mt. of the US are vital to the military. The 10th

was used in world war 2 and if i'm not mistaken in Somalia in 1993. And

the 10th is trained for more than just alpine fighting.

The 10th Mountain Diviesion isn't really a 'mountain' division. The 10th Mountain Division is the Army's rapid deployment light infantry unit. Acoording to Global Security, they've been deployed more often than any other combat unit. I think they're simulated just fine by standard light infantry. The 10th Mountain Division doesn't really have anything to do with mountains. I don't think the US Army has used or possessed dedicated mountain infantry in divisional, brigade, or even battalion levels since WW2.

However, specialized mountain infantry would be great to have in the game. Are you sure they're not in?

Mountain division were developed in ww2 for fighting in harsh winter enviroments. But the 10th today is a rapid reponse like u said. So they could be used for that in the game. But oh well i just they had them.

Isn't Mountain/Alpine ability already one of the many things a unit can train for? If not, it should be. A definate for a WW2 game.

As red says there is alpine training. I also think there are training for desert combat and tropical combat. Heck urban combat too. Chemical protection training etc etc :)

i know there be not mt. div. so i give up on that but when i get the game i'm gonna try to get the paratroops and fast as i can unless i already got em. Because if these paratroops are like the ones from another game (HoI 1 & 2) i played then i'm gonna be a killer.
