It could do cool stuff like elminate an enemys in-air refueling by messing up the orders in a hack attack way.

Or maybe issue fake orders to enemy units using the enemies own systems.

Or turn off a supply bases supply runs .So it didnt issue any supplies for a given amount of time.

This could be kind of an espionage issued thing that reguires a certain unit/building to be created before the mission would show as an option in the espionage missions list.

This makes a good T.V film concept but in the real world it will never happen.

It already did happen in the Gulf War.
The american military attacked Iraqs computers with viruses and hack attacks.

"US spies were able to slip through Saddam's poor security to plant a virus in Iraqi computers. US agents placed a microchip, provided by the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, MD, in a French-made computer. The virus now planted in the printer, connected to the main-frame, uploaded onto the main-frame computer, and disabled much of the already insufficient air defenses. Saddam wasn't even aware he had been sabotaged (US News & World Report staff 2). While Saddam's forces were weak, his pride kept him going."

Its currently a large part of what is called "information warfare".

Also according to 2 well known ,established and trusted tech periodicals (Aviation Week and Space Technology) information operations against Iraq's computer networks already were underway as of Jan 2003.
One of the qoutes the artciles are based on-
"They're making sure they can shut down all the military and some of the national networks when they need to," an air force official was quoted as saying.

Computer warfare- hacking, dns attacks,etc..were also used in bosnia.

ACERT-Army emergency response team -was a brand new unit formed in 1997.

A very credible source talks about computerwarfare during The Kosovo Campaign.

http://www.afa.org/media/reports/april.html

Note that this discusses only the Air Forces activities in this manner and that there was a unit already in(in the airforce) existance to handel the job.
