would've been cool to be able to put a space station up. even with help with allied countries. because theres stuff that can only be researched and made in space. like transparent steel.

theres also transparent alumina http://www.rense.com/general20/transparentalum.htm
i think within 10 years they will have this stuff on visors for soldiers. so they can still see and have it be bullet proof.

Given the ongoing cost and effort required to keep a space station operational, it is not unrealistic to assume that in a time of world chaos it would be abandoned. (Hey, they're having enough trouble keeping it going and supplied as it is!)
As to launching and manning a new one, the time and effort and cost involved would be huge, even for a large group of countries. Not impossible, of course, but huge.
(Though it would be interesting to consider a space station as a pre-requisite to certain techs, as you suggest. Just not sure if anyone would bother with such a huge expenditure for only that purpose.)

Hehe... you don't think we're living in a time of chaos right now? You've been programming (or playing the game) too long.George Geczy wrote:Given the ongoing cost and effort required to keep a space station operational, it is not unrealistic to assume that in a time of world chaos it would be abandoned.
