Okay, you have said there will be landing craft and water based invasions.
In rl troops that invade by sea are usaully also supplied/resupplied by the invasion task force which rushs supplies to the landing from the supply ships in the task force.
Will there be a naval unit that acts as a resupply unit for landing forces in such invasions in the game ?
If there is a unit like this, how would you show its limited supply capabilities as opposed to the bases supply model which has no predefined limit of supplies(other than what the region can produce) it can dish out ?
It seems to me that Invasions by sea will be next to impossible if there is no way to supply the troops landed .
When troops/units are on transports/landing craft/etc.. do they defend themselves ?
Or are they just cargo ?
Are there penalties applied to them if they are allowed to defend themselves ?
If a unit is transporting another unit and its destroyed, the units its transporting are destroyed also right ?Or at least damaged ?
If a unit is transporting a unit of lawyers and it gets destroyed in shark infested waters does world morale improve ?
invasions by sea, resupply of siad troops and maybe a few ot

Well, on the transport questions, I do have some answers.
Q: Will there be a naval unit to supply landing forces
A: We have already made provisions for supply ships. We will be sure that some supply ships will have the “does not need dock to unload†ability that will mean it can supply a landing party with supplies.
Now, to truly make an effective landing force, there should be at least two supply units: one naval and one land. The land unit lands with the forces and starts to supply them. The naval unit keeps the land supply unit supplied. When the naval unit is out of supplies it will go get more and come back. With any luck, your ship will get back before your land supply unit runs out of supplies. During this time, if the landing has gone well but you still haven’t captured a source of supplies, you should be building a supply depot so that you don’t need to depend on the supply units. But construction does take time…
Thanks goodness that these units will perform these actions independently!!
As far as seeing how much supplies the unit has left to give, that is still not determined…
Q: When troops/units are on transports/landing craft/etc. do they defend themselves?
A: No. They depend on the fleet’s defences. This assumes land units on cargo ships. Obviously aircraft on aircraft carriers is another matter…
Q: What happens to the cargo of a cargo ship when it sinks?
A: It gets wet… and is destroyed…

Um,i missed this somehow. The supply ship leaves the task force on its own and heads to the resupply base alone ?On 2002-12-05 08:52, Balthagor wrote:

If so ,we can at least give other ships standing orders to escort the supply ship correct ?
Also, can ships be resupplied by air in the game ?
