And annoying since we've disabled it as far as I can see!|O I've looked for the setting 3 times now and so has Legend, maybe I'll get Empier to fix it, he's always got a knack for these things

I've been here no worries lol. Ive been looking around at those pesky settings several times. I changed all the forums a while back to registered only i did it just about a month ago again to make sure but perhaps i missed one.

Just a side nonte once more ive checked out permissions i think ive caught them all but perhaps not. I believe the issue is that when you modify the category or create a new one the permissions get reset to all users given read/write rights. Thus once someone makes a category or edits one they should chekc their permissions and set it to registered only.
