I had thought that there was a way for people to override the default and select the previous theme (for those that like it more), but I don't think that's possible as such. If change the setting to 'no default' it may allow a choice, but everyone will have the previous (ie the last few months) theme until they change it to this one.
Though if there is a desire to have the choice I may find a workaround later in August.

(and yes i prefer the older theme i even have a badly copied version of the theme on my forums as one of the 3 or 4 theme choices)
