My suggestions/observations

Post by GIJoe597 »

I have had this list for years saved in a file. I am posting it raw as it. Will clarify as needed based on queries.
  • Clear notice when/why a countries opinion/relation with you changed or may change.
  • No behind the scenes artificial (unseen to human) modifiers for economy/resources
  • The hidden mechanic of resource limits needs to go. No more sharing a arbitray production limit world wide.
  • A rework of how land transit treaties work. The current system of allowing a nation to capture land when you are both at war and they move through your territory is bad. It is one of the major annoyances of the game. It also results in a completely unrealistic looking map with pockets of different nation territories haphazardly on map.
  • The ability of supply to capture territory without any land units should be removed. No boots on the ground no territory captured.
  • Even areas with zero supply, capture territory, its nuts.
  • Need to change the way fuel/distance works. Currently helos will crash at 50% fuel left. Ground units stop moving with 50% fuel left. Ships also.
The whole 50% fuel status has been a pain in SRU.
  • Helicopter mechanics need to be changed. Currently they act like ground troops in that they always try to go over land when moving. This is problematic when moving to islands. they also do not take into consideration the supply they have on board when it comes to range.
  • The ability to hide techs we do not want. Just like we can hide units/designs
  • Change the way "World Market" works. Include a toggle on resources/items to exclude or include in world market.
  • Have a true, functioning embargo mechanic. The ability to embargo other nations.
  • When you press Tab, it should only take you to your nations events. Currently, it take you to any combat in the world.
  • J-20 for China has zero spotting.
  • The ability to change gov types.
  • The ability to use allies repair facilities.
  • Trades/deals with nations need to improve relations better. Or other methods to improve relations.
  • A database of all units/stats available to be seen with the click of a button. Or the ability to see unit stats when they are offered in trade.
  • The ability to hide tech we are not interested in. Currently it is in the list forever.
  • The ability for nations to build military bases in other countries. Treaty?
  • The ability to invest in other nations. Build civilian facilities in them with your own funds. Treaty?

Could I get clarification on this one? Not sure what you mean.

I looked in a few of my save games to see if I could get a screen shot. But I did not see an appropriate example. Any number of examples can be found in games but I will post what finally made me save this comment/observation.

I typed that comment when I was fighting Russia. My forces had advanced from the east coast all the way across Siberia. I had captured every town/village/facility along the way. There were zero supply producing facilities anywhere from the east coast of Russia to a the west. A line extending North to South from Belushya Guba down the Kara River then all the way down to Kurgan.

There were no sources of supply for Russia yet their supply kept pushing territory back and capturing land and surrounding my units. There were no Russian units anywhere in that area either.

Alas, it has been so long I no do not recall either. I will think on it a few days. If it does not come to me I will delete that point.

If you do get a savegame for this, I'd love to take a look. The engine rule is that zero supply can't push. It needs to be 1% or greater.

I'll see if I can get some tests done about this in the new engine.

I cannot recall what that naval comment was about. I am deleting it from the op.

Further clarification on supply pushing borders. When I type zero supply I mean there is no supply source. The area is shown as having supply, but even a year after being cut off an made a pocket supply still flows freely and it pushes borders. My suggestion is to make supply with no source fade away quickly. When you capture an area and take over or eliminate all sources of supply for the enemy it should not push any border. In fact it should fade away as they have no means of getting supply.

Could we get a savegame with a case like this? My recollection was that the design of the system was to work like you're asking for. It like to analyze this more closely.

I will try to get one which clearly illustrates what I perceive the issue to be.
