Military priority on petrol over civilians

Post by SGTscuba »

Could we get an option where the military gets priority on fuel over civilians? This would help out some combat operations where a nation needs to seize oil, or only has limited reserves that can be used.

Would be great to see something like a toggle but if it impacts civilian petrol needs it could lower approval overtime. Running out of petrol mid-war despite actually producing it is always annoying.

Yes, there should be a penalty for doing this.

Does raising the domestic price of petroleum not help fix this issue?

Typically not enough. If you make 1M units of petrol and your populace eats 2.5M, you can triple that price and they'll still eat over the 1M you can get your hands on. The military ends up grinding to a halt.

If you could set the price to 500% perhaps. But normally not so, was especially prevalent in the '14 and '36 sandboxes

I think having a minister focus like this makes sense. However, if the devs could change the effects of raising domestic prices on petrol would that be enough? Might be.

Yes, the minister focus could be used as a toggle switch like the one that raises the defcon during peacetime.

i think there are already penalties for not meeting civilian needs.
But that is not near as damaging than stopping your military dead.
It is especially painfull if your military just needs a low 4 or 5 digit number of barrels per day comparing to 8-10 digits of population demand.
If making a "guns or butter" slider is out of reach of the devs - i suggest always giving the military priority for fuel as it would be pretty anywhere in the real world if they are in a war.

Also option to switch to military production where consumer goods facilities switch to producing military goods (at 1/3 efficiency) woul'd be great. Especially if AI can also use it. ;)
