Seamless building replacement of same type

These games had buildings that came in various sizes.
Can we directly replace them with larger and or better version without removal first?
Now we have to scrap stuff if we want to place bigger or better version.

I think this might be worthwhile. We had a similarish button in SR2010 which would upgrade the production of the facility (but mainly acted like a repair).

A long discussed wishlist item, ticket 15949. Also relates to ticket 15702 about unit upgrades

As suggested in the other post - just one building and upgrades with technology.
I tried the multi-tier building approach - but then i had to use an auto-mouseclicker to remove the old (small) facilities.
