If you set Governor Control to OFF but set Automate Unit to ON, then give a Survey Drone an order to survey, it will continue after the first survey and complete the system.
If you use the same settings on a Survey ship (FTL capable) and tell it to survey an object, it will NOT continue.
They should have the same behavior - preferably the first one (OFF/ON = automated survey of the current system).
If I let a Survey ship have Governor Control ON, it will go around and explore the entire galaxy, which is not always in my best interest (also, the have a tendency to fly from system to system without surveying them first). So right now my options are either to completely micromanage (per stellar body) or completely automate. There needs to be a middle ground so that Survey ships can behave like Drones and not bounce from system to system.

Thanks for letting us know, we'll do some testing on this issue.

One idea I had:
Right now the messages will tell you when an orbital body has been surveyed. Perhaps there could be more nuance in the messaging, and some options:
1) Survey ship has completed surveying X orbital body. Proceed to next? Yes/No/Auto Accept
2) Survey ship has entered system Y. Survey all bodies? Yes/No/Auto Accept
3) Survey ship has surveyed all bodies in system Z. Proceed to next system? Yes/No/Auto Accept
This would only make sense if the Auto Accept applied on a per-ship basis rather than a whole message type (for all ships); I don't know if that's how it normally works or not. But if the above is possible, it would eliminate the need to set automation controls.
(You would also probably not want #3 to wait until the ship has surveyed every single asteroid in an asteroid belt; only planets, moons and asteroids orbiting planets.)

There has been some work done in code related to this, it will need retesting in the next update to see if it's better/worse/same. Some of your other suggesitons about prompts to the player are bigger feature requests that we may consider in the future.arquebus_x wrote: ↑Oct 08 2023 If you set Governor Control to OFF but set Automate Unit to ON, then give a Survey Drone an order to survey, it will continue after the first survey and complete the system.
