Alright, I'm new to this site and this game, and i know very little about the history and the storyline. I understand that the game starts with a big world war in the near future, but how did the war begin ?

Welcome!

As to "How did it happen?", well I'll give you the short version

We go under the premise that the world becomes more and more isolationist. Trade buriers are put up between friendly nations, Stock Markets around the world crash, a Global Recession takes place... you know... what's going on now!

Anyways, these pressures build and due to regional events, countries begin to fragment. This gets worse and worse until virtually every country has dissolved into splintered economic and military sub-regions. The desire is to re-unite the nations and with that in mind, you set out on your quest to become Supreme Ruler.

Different regions have different personalities that will give each scenario a unique feel... Western Democratic Regions, for instance are particularly interested in ending the tensions and opposed to military conflict. A tendency in Western Scenarios will be to have scheduled re-unification votes, wherein the winner will go on to the next round...

In other regions of the world you have events such as the re-birth of Communist Russia, an unchecked Dictator in the Middle East, the religious conflict of India and Pakistan, North Korea's desire to take the South, China's eyes on Taiwan, and much more...

How you play each scenario will be up to you... Militarily, Economically, Politically, etc...

So now that you know the rough story line, are there any events you would predict in such a world break up? One that we assumed was the moment that the US breaks apart, Iraq moves back in on Kuwait...

Unfortunatly that is not a possible scenario. Far too one sided... Feel free to try and make it with the Scenario editor once the game is out but I suspect you'll agree with us once you've made a scenario or two.

On the US breakup scenario......... How about a militarily resurgent Japan re-fights WW2 in the Pacific (Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, S Korea)again going after their own access to oil, rubber, and other resources? This would presume that China is also busy falling. Or, in another variant, China goes for hegemony in this area without any organized enemy?

First off...

Reddemon: Geez you're fixated on Cuba. You must like their cigars a lot!

Stevodeevo: Hmmm.... There will be a battle between Ireland, England, and Scotland. I was thinking of using Northern Ireland as the catalyst for the battle, but maybe I'll use the Isle of Man instead

Wolverine: I like what I already have in store for Japan but I'll keep your idea in mind. Currently I've planned to have a battle for Japan that will mostly involve Corporations that have become the defacto rulers of their respective regions. In a throw-back to earlier Japanese culture, each region has its own "daimyo" or Feudal Baron and the goal of the scenario is for one to become Shogun. I envision this scenario playing mostly economic, diplomatic, and covert ops. Outright military conflict will likely be minimal in this one (not subtle enough).
