Don't be afraid, run a few trials, and see what happens. THEN tell us.

Losing is just gaining experience if you do it right.

It is very complex, Khan has a point, explore and discover your own strategy and let us know.

There are two basic ways to go though. Self sufficiency + effciency + price controls = profits from domestic sales and exports are a bonus.

Find the one or two things you can produce buttloads of and export tons of this stuff to finance your army and fixing other areas of your economy.

Both methods have pluses and minuses.

I will pass along a little secret though. Power generation. If you have oil/coal/both, these plants can actually be cheaper to supply electricity with overall than Nuclear, even with more power plants and the cost of fuel. Nuke plants are hellishly expensive to maintain. I have actually dismantled an entire nuclear system and replaced it with petroleum plants before.

If you want "uber rich" then play WWIII as an oil rich country...and don't think small in asking price. I think Tkobo actually was selling for 1,000,000$$$ a barrel. I usually don't bother raising over 1-2k$ p/b.

Another example:

Marseilles with:

Self sufficient, producing Timber and Metal on demand, and cheap timber, food and water prices(minimum water and food, timber barely above the production cost), investing in efficiency(the money going there will be worth it), 15% Tax from poor, 45% Tax from Middle and Maximum from Rich people, Maximum Export Import and Goods Tax, 30% Corporate and small business Tax each, no tax on the rest, but 2500$ immigration fee. The immigrants should bring some to start with, and the excess money should be alright to build resource buildings on every available spot.

Now this might be unpleasant for some, but the resource buildings on not so rich areas might be worth it.

Try using Coal and Hydro, as Nuclear plants are strangely ineffective. Research something alternative too.

That's for a head start, however price consumer goods at an extreme rate.

Drill the alaskan Oil and build an Army base very close to pump up the supply. Always try for land based oil wells before ocean derricks. The oil supply is very slim in the WWIII scenario. Once you have a good surplus pumping, you can start jacking up the price of your exports.

In the WWIII scenario, there is no World Market to keep prices low. Also the massive quantity of oil that the WM makes available is absent. What I am suggesting is that if you put the effort into providing surplus oil for sale, you can name your own price and make billions and billions of dollars every day selling oil. Yes, it is a pain to get those oil wells built, but it becomes very profitable once accomplished. With the profits, you can research and build any alternate energy source you wish....so that you have More oil to sell.

You will find your own strategy that works for you, but you asked for tricks to become extremely rich, so that is what I have laid out. :D

Good luck and much fun!

Even when there is a world market, you can still often do this.

Diplomatic trades can be used to get 500% and above profit on oil ,industrial goods, etc...

Im playing a game as mongolia right now and 2 years in have over 100 billion in the treasury.
With an average trade income of circa 100 million a day in oil + i can make diplo deals worth billions (in oil and industrial goods)every few days.

I have made diplomatic trade deals with Taiwan at over 1000% markup for industrial goods a few times now

I think the best deal ive gotten so far in this scenario was 16 times the worth of the product.

Unfortunately its a low cost item, so you can really only make a killing on it thru market manipulation.

You can still make a large profit % in diplo trades with it, but 10 times $1 is only $10
The cost is simply too low to make a killing in diplo trades.

This is truly badly thought, uranium contains far far more energy than oil.

Game makes me want to run a family reactor.
