What will be their effect? Will there be chance for them to get out of control and infect the world? Would the WM view a sloppy bio attack that spread as an attack on itself? How could the weapon not spread? Would you have to contain the target region?

Shouldn't have read this thread on a Monday morning... It made my head spin

We have made Bio Attacks only "Deliverable" by Special Ops. If you initiate one and get caught that would be bad! If successful, it is our thought that a Bio attack would cause panic among the citizens, badly hurting that region's economy, and drastically increase the burden to a region's Health Care and Infrastructure. We assume that all the Bio agents in the game will not be so virulent that World Contamination would be possible. There may be a few "Random" consequences from Bio attacks, but we haven't really had that discussion yet.

BUT, as I indicated above, the risk of launching a Bio attack will be GREAT! If you are discovered to have instigated a BIO War, then the World Market will likely come down just as hard, if not harder, as they would if you had launched a Nuclear Attack. The economic and military consequences would not be pleasant

Somehow this sounds a little to harmless

As far as I understand this kind of attack will only increase panic ammong the population for a given ammount of time.
And unless I understand things wrong this kind of damage done wont be permanent.
And in case the World Market finds out it might treat this kind of action like a nuclear attack...

I dont what kind of stuff that special ops guy had been using but it surely wasnt very expensive...

Remember... It was first thing Monday morning!

Of course Bio effects will have drastic, albeit short term effects on a region. Panic would run rampant in the population, and how that would impact your region the most is through short term economic turmoil (everybody in their basements with duct tape and plastic and not working).

We haven't yet identified exactly which bio agents we'll incorporate into the game, and I'm sure some will be nastier than others!

Hope that addresses some of your concerns.

Sounds cool so far...

So if we initiate an attack that is a success, the WM and other players won't know who it was. Human players would likely have a good guess, but the AI would be clueless. (Just like the nation which bugged the EU council buildnig in Brussels - hmm...who would do that????)
So once a successful attack is launched, will there be a sharp drop in population? Would that affect the size of the city? The buildings are still there, just the people aren't. I know you base city size on population, and this makes sense. If there is a cost assocaited with "growing" a city however, they should be mitigated by taking over a depopulated but otherwise intact city.

Viva la resistance!!!
