Land mines were considered before and rejected, they aren't really used in 16km x 16km spaces outside of North/South Korea.

The problem with the battalion structure, is every country is different. We only support one standard size.

to that last comment, we did try and build stats with a thought to the "support" elements that exist in a battalion. A tank battalion would have some air support elements, maybe some mortars? I think?

(this is me trying to remember decisions that were made in 2004-2006...)

..each time you start a new game there is a [chance] the alliance get dissolved, which gonna result in broken sphere where allies have to choose who they wanna keep ally with. For example in 1 game Canada doesnt want to work with US and dissolve all treaties at the start, then Japan, Australia, etc...

I'm fairly certain that the savegame file formats change between each of those versions, so it is not possible to move the savegames. You could always try it. It will either work or it will crash the program, but not damage anything.

The AI looks at relationships to decide where to make alliances. If you turn down volatility and diplomacy difficulty, they should be more willing to make alliances.

If it's just for theatre transfer, you could just add the values 9,10,11 anywhere that only one or two of those are used.
