Re: Grand Duchy of Finland

I've searched out a very large number of maps and not one showed Finland as an independent nation. Currently I still lean towards annexed, but could consider colony. Things like this can also be updated post release without much trouble as we see what plays best. Yes, I'm proposing colony status, n...

Grand Duchy of Finland

Finland was at this time an autonomus part of Russia, essentially a Vassal. Finland had more independence than the soviet republics later in the century. There was a custom currency, senate, legal system inherited from 1809 Sweden but still the law of the land. Finland even had it's own army unitl 1...

Re: Combat mechanics.

I was refering to lines being passive with my boring comment, meaning even if there was an opening to attack, the AI would prefer to stay defensive. Which wasn't the case in ww1, both sides tried to breakthrough, though due to very well fortifies/entrenched poitions supported by arty, a brakethrough...

Re: Combat mechanics.

You also need to consider gameplay value, a largley passive line is 'boring'. I agree on the counter attack aspect. The problem is that a human player will easily defeat a passive line formation, just make a strong spear force and bust through. Now when I play SRU i often use shorten thrench lines t...

Re: Combat mechanics.

I would say I agree with most of what your saying. The unit values should be easy tonfix when adding in units from the era. I'm more concerned with the AI behaviour. Currently the AI basically mounts it's best offensive when a war starts, when it basically throws all it's got at you until it runs ou...

the AI and trench warfare

How will the AI deal with trench warefare? One thing is to teach the Ai to give their units the entrench command. Another is to teach it to build continuous entrenched lines, and going on trench wide offensives.

Re: Portugal/ Spain at war with all rebels

Been a while since I looked at End of an Era, but is it so from the start of the game or does it always pop up on a specific date? Sounds like it could be a war event or something in the relations file. Also are the rebels some reber 'faction' or generic ones that randomly pops up?

Here's my onedrive with 1.22 being the latest. Re: Announcing Supreme Ruler The Great War

Hello! I've been playing SRU more recently on Linux and/or via a virtualization solution. My life has become somewhat less chaotic and hectic lately so I might return in the near future more. So a few questions: 1. Will there be Linux support? ;) ;) 2. Will you allow more than the 256 regions? Speak...

You can go for a space game like pdox is doing, with their stellaris or what it was named. Or do a medieval game.

Re: SRU under Linux

I tested the multiplayer last time in SR2020 when it didn't work. Both Wine and SR has come a long way since then. Single player is for me personally almost on par with Windows, though with a clock lag, meaning it jumps forwards instead of going smootly, with the overall speed being good and UI resp...
