Nadien's point on tanks vs ships is still valid, it's not realistic for tank battalions to be sinking frigates. The effective range of tank guns is about 4km. Even the 76mm OTO Melara Compact gun on the Oliver Hazard Perry class Frigates (and many other classes) has an effective range of 8 km agains...

To take this a step further, will this upgrade feature enable my unit to upgrade to an entirely new fleet, for example from Stingray 1 to Challenger 2?

Is there a way to upgrade an existing unit to a new piece of kit, for example from Leo 2 to Leo 3 so that the unit's experience, name, etc. can be retained? I haven't found that capability in the Beta, but I hope it is a feature that will be implemented. Ideally, it would be cheaper to upgrade a uni...

I recently attended a few briefings about Canadian Army transformation. The LAV ADATS will be known as the Multi-Mission Effects Vehicle (MMEV). The first iteration is version 1 (MMEV v1) and should enter service around 2008. Its more than just a LAV ADATS as it will include upgrades to the fire con...

For Korea, and for other scenarios too, will you see WM and other AI countries intervening by supplying troops and resources? Or could this be included as an option in scenario setup. I realize the fictional context of SR2010; however, it would be a great feature. For example in the Korea scenario, ...

I would like to see water given a significant level of importance as a resource, especially for scenarios in arid/desert regions of the world. There's been a bit of debate in academic circles about if water will be considered a strategic resource in the future and fought over like oil is today. Whil...

I've got access to a Janes online corporate account. According to Janes All the World's Aircraft online, the JH-7 is the same aircraft as the B-7. B-7 was the old western designation for the aircraft; however, FBC-1 is being used now. The export name for the aircraft is "Flying Leopard.

NBC training should be consolidated into one training package. It would simplify gameplay, and be more realistic.

I wouldn't get too hung up on NBC training. For most combat troops, it only takes a day or two to refresh their basic NBC survival skills. However, this does bring up the question of NBC troops. Will there be specialty NBC troops that can decontaminate other units?

With reference to LAV MGS, Rooikat, and AMX-10RC vehicles, I'd like to see them able to shoot on the move as they do in real life. Your point about them moving from fire position to fire position locally is well-taken, but tanks do the same thing. The above mentioned systems all have stabilized guns...

Thanks for implementing my suggestions! You are correct, rail guns are "slang" for EM guns. As for BMS, without being familiar with the game mechanics, it's hard to make a recommendation on how to model it. The very nature of most computer wargames, means that when one of your units spots the enemy,...

I'd stick with ADATS being anti-air. ADATS cannot fire on the move, thus using it in an offensive ground role, other than in a combined-arms unit would be suicide. In addition, the only anti-personnel weapons ADATS has are the personal weapons of the crew. As for APS, I'd put APS at tech level 108, ...

Please don't limit APS to just tank designs. APS is being developed for light armoured vehicles generally to improve their survivability. In terms of the game, the APS should be available depending on nation and tech level rather than specific vehicle type.

I would honestly put ADATS in the air defence category because of the equipment itself and the way it is employed. The ADATS turret is quite large and has a radar dish mounted on top of it. It is designed to be a static system, and the electronic equipment that goes with it is fairly sensitive. The ...

Well the Canadian Army is focusing even more on LAV. The Minister of National Defence announced yesterday the Leopard C2 (same as a 1A5) is being retired and replaced by LAV MGS. The plan is also to upgrade to LAV TOW and LAV ADATS as well to create a "medium direct fire system". If you want to see ...
