Re: Game Update/Patch 8.0.102

There are only 2 places to get the game, Steam and GamersGate. Gamersgate informs you Steamworks will be needed as a 3rd party application. It was clearly listed as needing Steam so we cannot complain if we purchased it. *Full Disclosure - I do not use Steam either and I sympathize with you, but it...

Re: (REQUEST) Major UNITS Techtree for ANY Nation

A code (that could be added to a design just like all the other codes) and supporting options for "player only" units would go a long way. So if we used "P" for example and could add that to existing designs we would like to be able to research as well as a bunch of made up units that would keep tho...

Re: Modding what is Air Transportable

Maybe it was Fistalis? Might have been Sgt scuba too. Its hard finding old posts around here sometimes. I know everytime I put modding this game aside for a while I have to relearn a lot Lol.

Glad you got it working, I make heavy use of airlift (and sea lift too - ALGOL ftw!)

Re: Modding what is Air Transportable

You have to modify the orders.csv (in ini folder) Order 6,LOAD INTO,3,1,,1,etc,etc Change that to 3,1,1,1 (column for air units which was blank...but you cannot differentiate from fixed wing vs choppers here) I believe it was Catatonic that posted how to do that, and with more than my sketchy detail...

Re: Mid-air and naval refuelling

LOL, yeah I realized later usage meant consumption in a different way than consumption (anyone else who may be confused, you just need to look at the tab closely and it makes sense), so it isn't as redundant as it seems. Georgios, let me play Devil's advocate and ask you: Why bother? Does it really ...

Re: My dream.

Not that there aren't some Civ-like features I wouldn't like to see in SR, but it sounds like you'd be better off playing Civ. Agree with Zuikaku, I loved Civ1 and 2...3 and 4 got steadily worse (although I think 3 wasn't so bad...they added some good features, but they did start adding crap). 5 see...

Re: Please consider : Unit Container using existing transpor

I'd like to see a proper solution to the issue, not more hacks. All this would accomplish is making the game about division sized units instead of battalions. It reminds me of the army container they added to Civilization 3 (I think it was 3), which was dreadful in execution. A better grouping syste...

Re: Sug. Carries for allied plane

Something I've tinkered with: I made carriers and oilers (any cargo ship that is not meant to carry troops) generate a tiny amount of supply (and cut their cargo capacities). Throwing this out as a suggestion, since it would accomplish this (in theory anyway) it also makes them act as actual supply ...

Re: fuel and supply

Actually the IFR still do take it out of their own fuel and replace it with fuel converted from goods right? I know a change was made because they used to give away all their own fuel and then crash, but IIRC the change was just that they wouldn't give away all their own fuel (probably only to half)...

Re: Mid-air and naval refuelling

Ok, so oil is produced by the various production facilities. All numbers for oil are in barrels (bbl) Also I am going to ignore the effects of various tech for the purpose of this discussion, but don't forget if your numbers don't match up in game that you have to look at the sum of relevant tech ef...

Re: Mid-air and naval refuelling

So the fuel value seen on game charts is the weight of the volume written as cargo capacity in default.unit file? Units load themselves with supplies counted in tons an can be used as fuel to travel the given distance before out of fuel or as ammo to fight the given combat hours. But what exactly i...

Oh sure, but it's a separate scenario at that point. Which certainly is easy enough to do.

Re: Mid-air and naval refuelling

Fuel & ammo both come out of cargo. A barrel of oil is about 138.8 kg (sources vary, and of course the only 1 important is what BG used, I remember Balth saying it in a thread or 3 but I don't remember when, probably in 2020 discussion) so a little over 7 barrels per ton of cargo or a ton of ammo.

Re: USSR events for preparing to attack Germany

I remember reading somewhere that Stalin had read Mein Kampf, and so knew what Hitler intended for the Russians; so all Stalin was doing with the political game was trying to buy time to be ready to fight the Germans. It was like "if I can put this off for 2 more years we will be strong enough to be...

Re: Start All Units in Reserve

I like the idea, but I suggest is a selection on game setup menu that allows the player to choose "All Units In Reserve" as an option (like we do with UN approval, etc.). That would allow people (like me and others) who prefer to sort everything out at start before going on conquest :) GREAT idea.....
